SUMMARY
This course is designed to introduce the student to the basic principles of biblical interpretation and hermeneutical procedures.
OBJECTIVES
- Explain the role of the author, text, and reader in the interpretive process and defend the position of the author as the determiner of meaning.
- Display competence in applying basic rules that govern the interpretation of different genres in determining the meaning of a text.
- Develop the main idea of a text and, based on the structure and meaning of the text, develop a sermon/teaching outline.
